I was taken with the idea of an elegant relaxed affair, so we needed somewhere special that could do three, rather different things.
1) Create a stunning atmosphere
2) Be able to host both the ceremony and reception so we could spend more time with guests
3) Have amazing food that could be served in a more cocktail setting.
I literally visited 16 different venues. Yes, I have been told that I was crazy. I entered them all into a magical excel spreadsheet which made all the different pricing options 100% comparable, removing a lot of confusion. It worked by taking all the different elements we would need for each venue, and breaking it down to a per head cost.
The venue hunt helped shaped the kind of wedding we wanted. I thought I wanted something like an old character house, but we've decided on a really elegant modern venue that specialises in events. Because of this,m we now have a different stylistic theme and most importantly we know really want from the day, which is spending as much time with our wonderful friends and family.
This place looks amazing -perfect choice for a perfect wedding! ;)

Enjoy the hunt! I hope you find everything you are looking for! We were very lucky with our venue, we didn't have to visit any in order to decide because we had been to our venue before and loved it from the beginning. We compared everything else online to it!

It is true that finding a venue for the wedding is one of the biggest and hardest decisions because the choice will dictate the atmosphere and the mood of the event. Having to visit 16 places is not at all bad. It can actually help you pick a better choice because of the wide array of choices available. And just like you said, it helped shape the kind of wedding you wanted. Anyway, good luck with the venue hunt! I wish you find the perfect place for your wedding.

ReplyDeleteI think the venue is really one of the toughest decisions to make during the preparation. Here, I believe a checklist would be of great help. It’s a good start that you’ve decided to hold both the ceremony and the reception in one place. It’s more affordable and convenient for everyone. Consider the time of the year you’ll get married too. Some locations might be perfect for this season, and not the next. ;]
